Fabulous Excel Chart Add Vertical Gridlines
To make the data in a chart that displays axes easier to read you can display horizontal and vertical chart gridlines.

To change the gridlines type click the arrow next to Gridlines and then choose the desired gridlines type from the list or click More Options to open the pane with advanced Major Gridlines options. Go to LayoutAxes and plot the secondary axis on top. Then go to the LayoutGridlines and add a secondary vertical gridline.
Select additional gridlines for the graph from the submenus. You can add more gridlines to the chart by selecting Layout Gridlines. Click Layout just under Chart Tools.
Go to tab Axis Options on the task pane. Cursor on the Primary Vertical Gridlines and see at the bottom More Primary Vertical Gridline Options. Select the secondory axis on top.
Eg this will be useful to show data and highlight a current date. Add the date with the current date to your data for example. Enter a new column beside your quantity column and name it Ver Line.
Here you have a data table with monthly sales quantity and you need to create a line chart and insert a vertical line in it. Please follow these steps. Youll see a drop-down menu appear with various options.
Then select either Primary Horizontal Gridlines or Vertical Horizontal Gridlines as below. Double-click the secondary vertical axis or right-click it and choose Format Axis from the context menu. Under Chart Tools on the Design tab in the Data group choose Select.
